Pockets

It's not always about the frippery and pretty here at Purlpower's sewing sweatshop. Sometimes you just really need a new pair of pockets.

My beautiful, crazy-lady, fake leopard skin coat has been on many adventures over the past twenty years. Yep, have had this baby for twenty years (although it did go MIA for at least five of those, turned up in one of my mum's cupboards...) and she's been to many an indie dive and rock palace. Her most memorable outing was probably going to see Hole at Nottingham's Rock City in 1995 (and cheers to this site for helping me find the date for that gig, man, the internet is amazing).

But all those adventures take their toll and her pockets were both mush:

An hour or so, watching Dollhouse on Lovefilm Instant and using some lovely fabric offcuts from AUNTIE JANE and she has a lovely new pair of pockets.

Not 'pretty' but practical and they feel nice. Satisfying.

Wow a fake leopardskin coat. Oddly, I just read a story about a woman who found her mother-in-law's fake leopardskin jacket at the back of the closet, and took it to her at the hospital. It gave her mother-in-law a new lease of life!
